Funtington Music Group meets throughout the year at the Chapel of Ascension for the Group’s annual musical programme. The programme is full of variety, and includes concert appearances by well-known artists and ensembles, illustrated lecture recitals and guest appearances by international celebrities. The Group provides the concert opportunity and prizes at the popular Annual Student Showcase Concert, as well as bursaries for deserving students from the Robert Headley Fund. Established in 2003, the Fund has to date awarded prizes, granted bursaries and purchased instruments worth a total of £57,575.

Charity Status was awarded to the Funtington Music Group in 2004. As a result, all members’ subscriptions and any donations qualify for Gift Aid tax refunds. This makes it possible to award one or two £1000 Bursaries a year and to provide a prize fund of £1250 for the annual student performance competition.

In the last thirteen years, twenty two Chichester Graduates have been awarded bursaries to help with fees at post graduate institutions.

In 2013 an instrument library was created to give students access to instruments for practice and for orchestral performance.  The library is dedicated to John Speir who was their first treasurer, founder member and generous donor to the Charity.  Their first purchases were a concert harp and a Cor Anglais, and more recently an Allen digital organ and two violins.

Donations may be made at any time of the year, and in particular when you are applying for annual membership of the Group. Members pay an annual subscription for the full programme of nine meetings.

Visitors are welcome to any meeting for a ticket price of £15 payable at the door, or may be pre-book on 01243 378900.
